Grayson's first band didn't fit as well as they hoped. So they remeasured his head and made him a new one. This one fits much better and the results are amazing! He has been wearing his new one for two weeks now and the shape of his head has changed so much.

Baby Dedication
On Sunday October 19th at Calvin Heights Baptist Church we were a part of the baby dedication service. Josh and I promised to recommit ourselves to Jesus and raise Grayson in a Christian home, teaching him about Jesus and God. It was a very nice service and the preacher ask the deacons to pray over Grayson. He received a bible with a life verse written in the front that we picked for him. They also played a slide show of pictures of Grayson with music in the background.
Grayson's Life Verse
James 1:5-6
5 "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind."
First Appointment
Grayson had his first appointment this past Wednesday in Charlotte. They took several pictures of his head and measurements. His diagnosis was more complex than what they normally see...which was a surprise to us. He has Plagiocephaly and Scaphocephaly. They had to call the manufacturer to ask if they could make a DOC band (helmet) that could treat both. After sending in his measurements and pictures they called us back to say YES! They said because he is starting treatment earlier than most babies he should only have to wear it 6-8 weeks.
We had already been blessed with the first $1000, which is what we had to pay to get the treatment started. The 2nd $1000 is due November 22nd and the last payment is due December 22nd. We have a total of $2088 ...which means we are only short $912. I have no doubt God will provide! Thank you all so much for caring about our child and making this treatment possible for him right now...they stress how important early treatment is!! I can not say thank you enough!
Josh's mom and James have offered to provide the gas money for the weekly visits to have his helmet readjusted. Thank you so much!

Financial Update
Right now it is a waiting game to find out if our insurance is going to help at all. We have to go to the first initial appointment and then they will contact our insurance company again and refile. The first appointment on the 22nd is free.
At this point $640 has been donated towards Grayson's DOC Band. Thank you so much!!!

CT Scan
Grayson went in for his CT scan on Tuesday morning and did great! I was able to go back with him and hold his hand during it. His favorite little puppy dog also went along for the ride and had a CT scan. He got a little fussy mid way through but they let him suck on his paci and he calmed down quickly. The hospital told us to call the doctor the next day for the results.
Well...I couldn't wait until the next day so I called around 3pm and Dr. B already had the results. Praise God there was no brain tumor!!! He does have Plagiocephaly though :( But it has been caught at an early age and with treatment he should have no problems. He has an appointment with a cranial specialist on October 22nd.
Plagiocephaly is a disorder where the back or one side of the babies head is flat. There are a few different ways this can happen...Grayson's is due to him being stuck in my right pelvis during pregnancy. Grayson's head became "molded" into an abnormal shape. If left untreated the bones in his head will fuse together restricting his brain growth and leave him with the mentality of an infant for the rest of his life. Thankfully Grayson's is not fused together and can be corrected simply by wearing a special helmet for the next few months...no surgery required. The cost of the helmet is $3,000 and our insurance is not wanting to pay. (They said if we wait for the bones to fuse then they will pay for the surgery...is that not crazy!) Josh is still fighting with the insurance company to see the importance of this treatment. Our doctor is sending the insurance a copy of the CT scan and his diagnosis. Please pray that our insurance company will come through and at least pay a portion of this. Thank you so much for all your prayers and support!
