CT Scan

Grayson went in for his CT scan on Tuesday morning and did great! I was able to go back with him and hold his hand during it. His favorite little puppy dog also went along for the ride and had a CT scan. He got a little fussy mid way through but they let him suck on his paci and he calmed down quickly. The hospital told us to call the doctor the next day for the results.

Well...I couldn't wait until the next day so I called around 3pm and Dr. B already had the results. Praise God there was no brain tumor!!! He does have Plagiocephaly though :( But it has been caught at an early age and with treatment he should have no problems. He has an appointment with a cranial specialist on October 22nd.

Plagiocephaly is a disorder where the back or one side of the babies head is flat. There are a few different ways this can happen...Grayson's is due to him being stuck in my right pelvis during pregnancy. Grayson's head became "molded" into an abnormal shape. If left untreated the bones in his head will fuse together restricting his brain growth and leave him with the mentality of an infant for the rest of his life. Thankfully Grayson's is not fused together and can be corrected simply by wearing a special helmet for the next few months...no surgery required. The cost of the helmet is $3,000 and our insurance is not wanting to pay. (They said if we wait for the bones to fuse then they will pay for the surgery...is that not crazy!) Josh is still fighting with the insurance company to see the importance of this treatment. Our doctor is sending the insurance a copy of the CT scan and his diagnosis. Please pray that our insurance company will come through and at least pay a portion of this. Thank you so much for all your prayers and support!

Goodness Kirsten! I am so glad that Jack had to go pee and the nurse held him - the Lord works in mysterious ways. I am glad they have caught it early. Please know that Grayson and your family will be in my prayers!

Oh and write a letter to your senator, I will ask my dad who it is if you don't know. This is the only way we were able to get the Insurance company to cover Will's birth when he was born prematurely!

Thinking of you!
